Wiley’s Managing Director Tom Wiley is excited to get in the kitchen and throw that apron on to raise money to help Australia’s disadvantaged at the OzHarvest CEO Cookoff in March.
The CEO Cookoff provides an opportunity for Australia’s top bosses to lead by example in service to vulnerable Australians and connect with a community that they would not often have an opportunity to break bread with.
“Food is all about caring, sharing, dignity and respect. It’s an equaliser and a connector and that’s what this event is about,” said Ronni Kahn, OzHarvest’s founder and CEO.
Wiley is passionate about bringing food and people together in a better way. Tom considers the CEO Cookoff as a brilliant opportunity to do this, not only by bringing food to those who need it most, but also to find a better way to address pressing food issues facing society such as food wastage.
One of Tom’s biggest passions is finding a way to feed everyone on the planet and be able to give back to the community. The Cookoff aligns with one of Wiley’s core company values, A Sense of Community, a value deeply ingrained in the culture and mindset of the company. Wiley strive to and care passionately about making a difference to the community.
At the CEO CookOff, the participants are grouped into teams and paired with celebrated chefs from Australia’s top kitchens. Previous years has seen CEO’s partner with Australia’s top chefs including Maggie Beer and Matt Moran to plate up and share a three course meals with 1,000 homeless or disadvantaged guests.
Why support?
The 2016 fundraising target is $1.5 million to support OzHarvest’s purpose to Nourish Our Country through food rescue, nutrition education and hospitality training for disadvantaged youth, and community engagement programs.
Wiley’s goal is to reach $20,000 for the event taking place on Monday, 7 March 2016 in Brisbane Australia.
